Ghana Board of Trustees

Lydia Kate Amissah (nee Sekyiamah) graduated from the University of Ghana with Honours in History in 1967. She joined the Ghana Commercial Bank after a brief teaching experience and rose to branch management position managing a number of branches of the bank. She is a retired banker and an associate of the Institute of Bankers. She is married and has two grown up children.

Samuel Gepi-Attee got his undergraduate medical degree in 1976 from the University of Ghana Medical School. He went on to train in General Surgery in Eire, Ireland and obtained Fellowship in Surgery in 1985. He trained as a Urologist in the UK and holds a doctorate degree in bio-materials from the University of Bristol, UK. He is at present a urologist in Korlebu Teaching Hospital and a senior lecturer in the University of Ghana medical School.

Amelia Laing, MBChB, FACOG, has over 20 years experience practicing Obstetrics and Gynecology in the USA, and brings her skills to augment women’s health services in Ghana. She trained at the University of Ghana Medical School and spent 2 years at the Korle-Bu teaching hospital in various disciplines before leaving for the USA where she trained in Obstetrics and Gynecology after 4 years in Research into Breast cancer epidemiology. For over 10 years she maintained a solo private practice in Ob/Gyn. She is married to Dr. Cyril Ofori and they have 2 adult sons.

Grace Essuman is a Health Promotion Consultant, Motivational Speaker and Health and Well-being Coach with a special interest in Nutritional Therapy. She is the Executive Director of F&G Wellness Consultancy, a Social Enterprise in Ghana dedicated to reducing the incidence of non-communicable diseases using Health Analytics, Health Coaching and Functional Nutritional Therapy. Her Clinical background is a collation of experience from her practice as a Midwife and Practice Nurse in Nottingham UK since 1991. She currently maintains her registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council by practicing a minimum of 4 weeks per year in Nottingham UK.

Wendy Appiah graduated from Spelman College, Georgia in 1989 with a degree in Computer Science.  She also has an MBA in Finance and International Business from Columbia University, New York.  Ms. Appiah worked as an analyst in the oil industry and on Wall Street for several years. More recently, Ms. Appiah has worked as a strategic advisor for the FOCOS Orthopedic Hospital and as a healthcare consultant.

Scott Boyes, CPA, graduated from the University of Akron in 1987 with a Bachelor of Science – Accounting degree. He became a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) early in his career while working in public accounting prior beginning his hospital financial management career which still continues. He obtained his Masters Degree in Business in 2013. He is currently Chief financial Officer for Wooster Hospital, an award winning and financially sound 128 bed community institution. He is married to Susan and they have three children.

Lynn V Horner, has over 45 years experience working in healthcare. A Registered Nurse graduate of Grant Hospital School of Nursing she has extensive experience in adult and neonatal critical care, pre-hospital care and EMS. Lynn has Bachelor degrees in Business Administration from Otterbein College and Nursing from the University of the State of New York as well as a Master of Health Administration from The Ohio State University. She also completed The Graduate Executive Program in Health Care Financial Management at The Ohio State University. Lynn is a retired hospital CEO and provides healthcare consulting and interim executive services. She has served on many non-profit boards.

John Cook, Ph.D, CPA received his MBA from Dartmouth’s Tuck School of Business in 1971.  His career includes over 30 years of public
accounting including four years with the Chicago office of PriceWaterhouse.  He was a tenured member of the Economics department of the College of Wooster and served a term as department chair.  For eleven years he served on a bank board and chaired its audit committee.  He has been a board member and/or treasurer of several non-profit organizations.  In addition to Dartmouth, his education includes a bachelor’s degree from the College of Wooster and a Ph.D. in finance from Case Western Reserve University

Linda K Cebul  R.N., B.A. Education, worked as a hospital nurse for 35 years in wide variety of capacities:  Obstetrics (including labor/delivery, C-section team, post-partum, nursery), emergency department, outpatient surgery and open-heart recovery. She also was a regular nurse volunteer at the local free clinic for over 15 years. She is married to Dr. Frank Cebul and remains engaged with her three adult children and a grandchild.
